AAYBA – Texas World Series – Flower Mound, TX
July 19-26, 2008

Dallas Royals vs Irving Rangers – Game 1

Royals Defeat Rangers 14-1

The Royals opened the Texas World Series competition by defeating the
Irving Rangers 14-1.  The Royals used a 12 hit attack combined with solid
pitching and good defense to start the tournament on the right foot.

The offense was lead by Tommy’s two doubles and a single, Cody and
Trevor’s two singles and Olajide’s single and solo-homerun.  Jackson,
Darius and Obi also had hits for the Royals during the three-inning affair.
Trevor had his groove working all game long as he allowed only one hit
and two walks while striking out six Rangers throughout the game.

The Royals defense was solid as they made all the rights plays and kept
the Rangers off the base paths for most of the game.

Dallas Royals vs Keller Colts – Game 2

Royals Saddle Colts 7-1

The Royals used a familiar formula of good pitching, solid defense and
timely hitting to defeat the Keller Colts 7-1.  Darius went the distance for
the Royals as he spread four hits and one walk over the well played seven-
inning game.

The Royals took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when Olajide, Jackson
and Cody all singled.  The boys took advantage of two Colt errors in the
inning and never looked back.  The Royals added one run in the 3rd and
another in the 5th to build a 4-0 lead.  The game was busted open in the
bottom of the 6th when Alex started with a single and scored on Olajide’s
double.  Darius was robbed two batters later when the Colt left fielder
made a sensational leaping catch. Tommy however followed with a run
scoring double and he later scored on a Colt error.

The Royals defense was solid again as the infield of Cody, Bennett and
Obi displayed good range and reaction as they assisted in 13 putouts
throughout the game.

Dallas Royals vs Texas Sports Black – Game 3

Royals Lay It On the Line… Beat TX Sports Black 10-6

The Royals and TX Sports Black entered the final pool game with
identical 2-0 records.  The Sports Black team had yet to give up a run
while scoring 27 in their first two games and was considered the favorite
against the Royals.  But a funny thing happened over the course of the
game; the Royals outplayed them and came out with a hard fought victory,
10-6.

Once again the Royals used timely hitting, solid defense and controlled
pitching to up-end the Black.  The Boys in Grey opened the game with a 5
run first inning outburst to set the tone.  After Olajide was awarded first
base by a HBP, Jackson, Darius and Tommy all connected with hard
base hits to chase the starting Sports Black pitcher from the mound.  The
assault continued later in the first as Trevor and Alex also singled to drive
in runs.

Sports Black threatened to get back into the game in both the first and
second innings as they had runners in scoring position. However, the
Royals defense stepped up to make the plays.  The infield gobbled up
ground balls and capped off the second inning when Alex made a diving
catch to thwart a rally.

The Royals had a 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the third when the
Sports Black bats came alive to score 4 runs.  With the score at 7-4 in the
bottom of the 4th inning, the game took on another level as a two outs
bases loaded Sports Black single drove in two runs and ended with a
major collision at home plate when the Sports Black base runner crashed
into Alex covering home.  Alex held on for the third out and the Sports
Black runner was ejected from the game.  Alex remained in the game and
the Royals really came alive…

With the score 7-6, the Royals immediately scored 3 runs in the top of the
5th as Jackson, Darius, Trevor and Obi ripped the Black’s c
loser to seal
the victory.  Jackson threw a brilliant bottom of the inning and the Black’s
heart of their order went down quietly to end the game.

The boys earned a day off and will need it to nurse some minor wounds
as Trevor, Bennett, Olajide, Obi and Alex put their bodies on the line for
their team.
